These cars will be last produced Mercedes Benz G cars with 3 doors. The production of 5-door G cars will continue after 30 years in production.

Engines of Mercedes Benz G Final Version are G350 Bluetecin or G500. The prices of these Mercedes Benz G Final Editions will start from 90k€ in Germany.

Mercedes Benz ML in TÜV statistics

German cars technical control organization assorts these TÜV defect rate reports yearly. A car model have to be tested at least 500 times to be assorted in TÜV report. Mercedes Benz ML has performed rather well in these reports even though it has not been the most reliable car in the rankings.

For example in 2009 TÜV reports for 2-3 years old cars Mercedes Benz ML had fault rate 5%. In comparison BMW X5 with same age had 6,0%. 4-5 years old Mercedes Benz ML had fault rate 9,3% which was slightly better than BMW X5 (9,7%).

Mercedes Benz M W164

Mercedes Benz replaced W163 with new W164 during years 2005/2006. The new W164 is more sporty and aerodymic than previous W163. The chapest model ML230 disappeared from the variety and other engines became slightly bigger. The ML320 engine grow to ML350 and diesel ML270 became ML320. This is sometimes confusing because in the W163 ML320 is a petrol engine but in W164 series it's diesel.

W164 is still in production but rumours say it will be replaced by a new model in 2012.

Mercedes Benz M W163

Motor Trend magazine voted Mercedes Benz ML W163 Truck of the year 1997 when it was introduced. W63 was the first Mercedes Benz manufactured outside Germany. Mercedes Benz ML was manufactured in Alabama USA.

Petrol engines of Mercedes Benz W163 started from ML 230 with 110 kW and 220 Nm. The most powerful version was ML 55 AMG with 255kW and 510 Nm.

Diesel engines of Mercedes Benz W163 started from ML 270 with 120kW and 370Nm. The other option was ML 400 with 184kW and  560 Nm.

In Euro NCAP safety tests W163 got 30 points (four stars).
